Biography:
EDUCATION: Coach McCarthy is a 2001 graduate of Marquette University, where she also earned her Master’s Degree in 2004. She worked as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in Pittsburgh before earning her doctorate from Frontier Nursing University in 2024.
BIO & EXPERIENCE:
Coach McCarthy hails from a small town in Wisconsin where she was a standout athlete in basketball, volleyball, and track during her high school years. In college, she played club volleyball at Marquette University. Her team enjoyed several successful seasons, including a memorable run to the national championship game in Reno, NV.
Coach McCarthy began working with young athletes in 2016 at Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy, where she led the volleyball program until 2021. In 2023, she took on the role of head coach at Saint Joseph High School and guided the Spartans to earn their second-ever trip to the WPIAL playoffs. In 2024, the team made school history, winning their first-ever WPIAL Section Title. Securing their spot in playoffs, the team advanced all the way to the WPIAL tournament semi-finals.
The Spartans' team motto for 2024, "Lead with Love. Love for the Game, Love for Each Other," reflects Coach McCarthy’s coaching philosophy, emphasizing teamwork, respect, and a deep passion for the sport.
SPORT INFO:
Girls Volleyball runs during the Fall season, with practices beginning in August. The Spartans also participate in the Renaissance Volleyball Club Summer League. Their home court is at Saint Joseph High School, Walter Dlubak Athletic Center.
